A Greater Future at Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District

The Greater Egg Harbor Regional High School District is the largest school district by area in New Jersey. Six preK-8 districts send students to the three high schools GEHR operates: Oakcrest, Absegami, and Cedar Creek.

Any student who does not attend a Magnet Program will be assigned to a high school based on home address. Students in Hamilton Township attend Oakcrest High School; those in Galloway attend Absegami High School; and those in Egg Harbor City and Mullica Township attend Cedar Creek. In addition to those municipalities that support GEHR with tax revenue. Students from Port Republic (Atlantic County) and Washington Township (Burlington County) attend Cedar Creek.

This page spotlights all the information we think a family needs to prepare for high school. This exciting time can also bring confusion and challenges as you review high school options.

Superintendent's Message

Hello and Welcome to Greater Egg!

A high school should be a place to grow beyond ways envisioned; yes, to expand your knowledge base, but also to develop oneself as an individual while recognizing the rewards of being part of a community. The words community and family are often used to describe Oakcrest, Absegami, and Cedar Creek.

I have been at Greater Egg since 2001…I taught and coached at Oakcrest, was a Vice Principal at Oakcrest, served as Principal for both Cedar Creek and Oakcrest, and since 2021 have been the District’s Superintendent. I met my wife working here, and our youngest daughter (who is part of the Class of 2025) took her first steps in my office when I was a VP at Oakcrest. For over two decades, Greater Egg has been my home, and I hope it is yours for the next four years.

For the reasons shared above and so many more, I LOVE this District. I love that we represent the real world … We are filled with students who look and sound and live differently from each other. Some are brand new to this country and some represent the fourth generation to walk the halls of a Greater Egg school. I love that we have produced Grammy Award winners and professional athletes and local business owners and (maybe most importantly) dozens of our very own staff. No matter what you want to do or who you want to be, we can help you get there. Look around our GREATER FUTURE webpage and find the programs and courses to help you succeed.

We want students to be engaged in learning, involved in growth opportunities, and comfortable being themselves. Take a look at the smiles of these students and you’ll see how we are meeting that goal!

College Bound

College is the next step for many GEHR graduates. Seventy-four percent of the class of 2022 gained acceptance into college after their GEHR career. These include acceptances to Princeton University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Yale University and more.

Merit Based Scholarships

We’re not the only ones who think our students shine. Students at GEHR consistently receive merit based scholarships. In 2021, GEHR students were awarded over $14 million total in scholarships. This figure grew in 2022 to $19.2 million.

Planned Improvements

We keep getting greater! In October 2022, voters in our communities showed strong support for $21 million in bond funding to make improvements at all three GEHR high schools. Whether you are a Falcon, Pirate or Brave, these improvements will enhance your experience: https://vote.GEHR.net/

Mental Health

We believe a healthy mindset allows our students to achieve high academic, social and personal success. Through mental health programs and services, we strive to support the full student at GEHR:

.

OHS Teen Center - The OHS Teen Center is a space for students at Oakcrest to receive social service programs, mental health Counseling. and recreational programs.

.

QPR Training – The Question/Persuade/Refer Training is available to all GEHR sophomores and teaches how to recognize signs in peers and offer support.

.

Transition Toolbox Training – This seminar equips students with tools to navigate challenges they may encounter while transitioning from high school.

.

All students enrolled at GEHR have access to a team of compassionate Guidance Counselors, Child Study Team members, AtlantiCare School Health Specialists and more.

Shadow Program

Test-drive us through our Shadow Program!

Our Shadow Program is the best way for prospective students to learn about a GEHR high school.
